چکیده
Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer found in women in Dr. Sardjito General Hospital Jogjakarta, Indonesia. Most of those patients were in the stage IIB and high grade (Aryandono et al., 2000). Prognosis of breast cancer is determined by several clinicapathological parameters which is also can be used to predict the natural history of this cancer. The presence or absence of lymph nodes metastasis, tumor size, grade, hormonale status, Her-2 status, cancer cell proliferation rate, p-53 mutation and patient’s age are well known prognostic factors for breast cancer patients.

Prognostic value of lymphangiogenesis and lymphovascular invasion in invasive breast cancer.
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic relevance of lymphangiogenesis and lymphovascular invasion in a large cohort of breast cancer patients. INTRODUCTION Invasion of tumor cells into blood and lymphatic vessels is one of the critical steps for metastasis. The presence or absence of lymph node metastasis is one of the main decision criteria for further therapy. One...
متن کاملRole of pathologic prognostic factors in breast cancer patients with isolated bone metastasis and relationship between SUVmax and prognostic factors
Introduction: 18F-FDG PET/CT provides very effective results in detecting metastases of breast cancer. In our study, we investigated the relationship between maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) and prognostic pathologic factors in breast cancer cases with isolated bone metastasis and whether there was any difference in terms of prognostic pathologic factors betwee...
متن کاملEffect of lymphangiogenesis and lymphovascular invasion on the survival pattern of breast cancer patients.
BACKGROUND Invasion of breast cancer cells into blood and lymphatic vessels is one of the most important steps for metastasis. In this study the prognostic relevance of lymphangiogenesis and lymphovascular invasion (LVI) in breast cancer patients was evaluated in terms of survival. MATERIALS AND METHODS This retrospective study concerned 518 breast cancer patients who were treated at Departme...
متن کاملRelationship between Non-Technical Factors and Diagnostic Accuracy of Frozen Section in Axillary Lymph Nodes in Patients with Breast Cancer
Background and purpose: Regional lymph node involvement is one of the main prognostic factors for breast cancer. Intraoperative assessment of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) by frozen section (FS) allows necessary axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) at the same time. But, false negative results are the main problems of the FS. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship betwee...
متن کاملThe Difference of Expression of 18 Genes in Axillary Invasion and Vascular Invasion Compared to Control Samples in Breast Cancer
Background & Objective: Recent studies from gene profiling have revealed some genes that are overexpressed in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process and are responsible for its initiation and activation resulting in tumor progression and metastasis. The present study aimed to assess the role of genes involved in the EMT process and the association of these genes wi...
